PlantUML for Confluence

Terms of use

Last updated 2026-05-20

These terms govern your use of the PlantUML for Confluence Forge app (the “App”). By installing or using the App, you agree to these terms.

1. License and warranty

The App is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The App's source code is released under the PolyForm Shield License 1.0.0 (a source-available license — see the LICENSE file in the repository for full terms).

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the App to render, store, or transmit content that:

You are responsible for the diagram source you submit through the App.

3. The render server (BYOS)

The App's free tier is BYOS — “bring your own server”. Diagram source entered into a macro is rendered by a PlantUML server whose URL is configured by your Confluence site admin. By default, that URL is the public PlantUML server at https://www.plantuml.com/plantuml, operated by the PlantUML project.

4. Privacy

The App's privacy practices are described on the privacy policy page. In short: the App stores no personal data on its own infrastructure; diagram source is stored inside Atlassian's tenancy, and diagram source is sent to the configured render server at view time.

5. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App's author shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the App.

For the free tier of the App, the author's total liability to you is zero. For any paid tier offered through the Atlassian Marketplace, liability is additionally governed by the Atlassian Marketplace Terms of Use and the Atlassian Marketplace End User License Agreement, which take precedence where applicable.

6. Changes

These terms may be updated. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Material changes will be reflected on the Marketplace listing.

7. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your Confluence site. The author may discontinue, modify, or withdraw the App from the Marketplace at any time.
